Most of my Christian friends are ”rapture” proof, how about yours?

Over the past few months, I have made it a point to call some of my longtime Christians friends. Some of these folks, I had not spoken with in many years – I had become concerned about my Christians friends, after hearing about all of the stories about how some Christians had been quitting their jobs and not paying their rent and mortgages because they had become convinced that they were about to take up a new residency in “heaven” with “Jesus;” and I wondered just how many of my friends had bought into this latest of rapture delusion?

Of the 4 of my Christian friends that I have talked with, only two of them had even heard about this May 21 date with “Jesus” (I started wondering if they had been living under a rock?). One of my friends stated that he had outgrown his childish beliefs in the Christian myth, and all of the silly magic – like virgins giving birth, and dead folks rising, and heaven and hell and the likes; however, he made it a point to tell me that he still believes in a “god” – just not the “god,” in the bible???

One of my friends who I had not spoken with in about 10 or 11 years, said that she had heard that I was dead, and that I had died over ten years ago (I guess that I should contact my Christian friends more often?). I joked with her and said that I had became a Christian about ten years ago, and that I had been a part of the pre-rapture program, and that I was taken up to heaven about a week ago, and that I was calling her from heaven to make sure that she was ready for her May 21 date with “Jesus.” The sad part of this story is the fact that at first, she believed me??? And she is not your garden variety, uneducated and ignorant Christian, she’s a School Teacher???

She told me that she didn’t really believe that “Jesus” was “coming back” on Saturday – but she then said: “you can never be 100 percent sure about these kinds of things either – no one knows the date, not even Jesus knows the date of his own return – so it’s always better to play it safe; so I’ll be praying extra hard this weekend.”

I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed that I couldn’t find a single one of my Christian friends, who were preparing for the May 21 “rapture.” However, that fact in and of its self, is the main reason why I consider these folks as my friends in the first place – I have always tried to distance myself from the more deluded Christians that I have known. I tried to explain to my Christian friend that she can in fact know the date of the rapture; and that the date of the real “rapture,” will be on the 12th of never. I told her that this latest of dates, of the hundreds of other rapture dates that folks were sure that the world would end, was derived from the mythical story of the “great flood” written in the buy-bull, and using some kind of weird math, and by a very mentally ill and deluded man.

The sad reality is the fact that some folks did in fact buy into this totally contrived and big load of horse-shit – there are those who carry this brain-rotting mind-virus of delusion, who stopped making plans for anything worldly post the May 21 “rapture.” They have in fact quit their jobs and stopped paying their rent and mortgage – some even sold their homes and used their life savings to buy space on billboards announcing the May 21 date of the “rapture.” Some have even been traveling for months now (whole families in tow) and spreading the “good news” of the coming “rapture” – some even taking their children out of school. And the sad reality is, on Sunday, some of these folks will have nothing to go back to – as they have sold everything that they owned.

As far as I know, most of my Christian friends will sail right through today’s “rapture” unaffected by this latest of Christian insanity – how about your Christian friends? Do you know anyone who fell for this “rapture” bullshit? And do we need new laws to protect those who carry this brain-rotting mind-virus of delusion from their own stupidity? And should Harold Camping be prosecuted? I’d be willing to bet that some of his willfully ignorant victims will be breaking out the pitchforks and the torches, and then heading for California!

I believe Camping should have to repay all those that supported him but I know he won't. I really feel sorry for those that lost everything because they bought into his crap but I'm not sure I can come with anything more then that. I wish we could put Camping in a clinic where only a few people might hear him.

What I find the most amazing is the fact that this kind of psychotic delusional Christian bullshit, just keeps rearing its ugly head time after time, and with the same results every time – there is nothing new about this lunacy at all. I’ve seen this same type of silly bullshit happen at least 6 times within my own lifetime, yet, the weak minded and ignorant always seem to fall for the same old bullshit?

One can only hope that because this event has gotten so much attention (unlike the rapture frenzies of the past) that even the most gullible and ignorant of the Christians, will start thinking about what they believe, and why they believe such silly and childlike, asinine bullshit, like the stories of the manmade desert god(s) written in the bible.

And as far as Harold Camping repaying these silly and ignorant Christian idiots and morons – I’d like to see him loose everything that he owns, in class action law suits – however, being realistic, this deluded and psychotic fucking moron, is 90 years old, and he looks like he could be partaking in his own “rapture,” any day now! So I don’t believe that he will ever be held accountable for this lunacy.

Yeah it was a tough time but the beer helped. I figure he is a bit like me and at times doesn't feel the need or desire to post comments or post to blogs. I get tired of saying the same basic shit and not getting though to people but always come back when i feel I need to.
I’m just fine, thanks SBJ1964 – I’ve just been taking a break from the Christian lunacy.

Skeeve just likes to argue, it would not matter about what. He considers himself a worthy opponent to anyone. Take care nice to read your post it was like the seeing old G-cat again ! LOL
None of my friends or associates fell for this scam.

So far none of my Christian friends seem to have fallen prey to this silly bullshit either. None of them seemed to have any empathy for the ones who did fall for it either – hearing one Christian calling another Christian silly and ignorant, was to me like hearing the pot calling the kettle black!

Well, it looks like some people killed themselves, at least tried to kill their children, and some other things. Could be a charge there of incitement to violence at least.
Probably a free speech defense. Morally, no question, the guy is guilty of killing people.

I’ve seen this all happen before. And the real fucked up thing about this Christian mind-rotting virus of delusion is the fact that it makes some of them so detached from reality, that they believe that their real life will begin after their death – I have even seen Christians who were mad at other people saying things like: “I’m going to kill myself, and then they’ll take me more seriously, and the next time I ask my parents for something, they’ll give it to me.” Some are just that detached from reality that they don’t seem to understand that death is the end of life.

I am quite sure as the week progresses, that we will be hearing about the suicides and the other mayhem this Christian lunacy has caused in the lives of these ignorant and deluded morons – I don’t know just how many deaths that Harold Camping caused the last time that he pulled this type of silly shit out of his ass, but it wouldn’t make me sad at all if I read next week that he “rapture-d” himself hehehe!

I'm one of them crazy furriners I know, but even so I think that IDIOTS like KKKamping will return triumphantly empty-handed.
Oh well, life goes on!
Nice to hear John We have all missed you . Nice to see your back !
I find it kind of interesting that my Christian friends laugh and roll their eyes when I ask them about this Rapture, yet they continue to believe in other amazing supernatural claims about the unknowable as part of their core world view. Why is this rapture fairytale different from all of the other fairytales that they accept as reality? Just sayin'.

And one could take it one step further – most Christians find the story of the Muslim “prophet” Muhammad, flying a magical winged horse to “heaven,” as being ludicrous and ridicules, and even childlike – and they find the stories of the Mormon “prophet,” old Joe setting on the right hand side of “jesus” in heaven, and deciding with “him,” who will burn in “hell” forever, as being just as ridicules and even laughable. But when it comes to ghosts raping 13 year old virgin girls, and making little bastard “born” “saviors,” or a dead for 3 days, stinking and rotting corpse arising, and then walking among the living, and yet, they find that believable???

This is a fascinating mind-virus to say the least!

Thanks for dropping by.

John

Thanks SBJ1964, I hope that you have a great holiday as well; although, I find little to be happy about on Memorial Day, other than the fact that another year has come and gone, and I’m still above ground!

Peace!

John

I hope you will be around for many years to come John. As Shakespeare Hamlet once said "An honest man, is one man counted of ten thousand" . My knowing you is defiantly a stroke of luck for me indeed. He wrote that 400 years ago ;no telling what the odds are today ? The world needs more men like you John, always remember that .
