EVANGELIST A. A. ALLEN:

This is a response to Beast_FCD blogged At Atheist Haven 02/25/09

Early one spring morning back in the 60's, my family and I were eating breakfast when we heard a knock at our door. Two Christian proselytizers informed my mother that the greatest man since Jesus had come to town. And he'd be conducting tent Church services in our neighborhood that evening. And come prepared to be saved and healed: (Wallets and purses in hand!)

My mom became real excited about this, and later on that evening, she headed off to the revival services with my siblings and I in tow. When we arrived at the tent, the service was all ready in progress. So we just took seats and began watching the show. As I looked around, I noticed that in the front row, were people in wheelchairs and lying around on stretchers. And on the right side of the stage, there was a coffin with flowers on top. After an hour or so, he said, he was starting to feel the presence of Jesus. And he was now ready to start performing miracles. And those wishing to be healed can start coming to the front of the stage.

A few folks started moving forward, but most remained seated. The first one to be healed was a lady in a wheelchair. She said in to the microphone; that she had been paralyzed now, for over 25 years. He then told her, "in the name of Jesus, you will, walk tonight." Then the organ started playing, and he put his hands on her head: then he started commanding her to stand up on her feet. After a few moments, she slowly began to rise up and out of her wheelchair. A few minutes later, she was running around, hands in the air praising Jesus, and acting like a fucking fool. He then healed about five others, which were in the front row. Then he made his way back on the stage, and approached the coffin. Standing next to it, was a woman crying and saying, that in that coffin was her husband, that had died two days earlier. As this guy started praying over her dead husband and the organ changed its tune. After a few minutes or so, the lid on the coffin began to rise. At this point I was scared shitless and just wanted too cry. And just then, I saw a man's head, rise up out of the coffin. The women started screaming, and so did I. As she bent over to grab him, the preacher held her back, saying, "just give him a few more moments, the miracle isn't over yet!" As this corpse was still awakening, and the organ changed its tune, this time playing an upbeat, and happy song. At this point, the service turned in too, what I can only describe as a healing frenzy. People were running up to the stage to be healed while the Church ushers, collected money in big baskets. This went on for an hour or so, before we left. My mom wrote this man a check that night, and placed it in one of the baskets. Later on that summer she received a free invitation, inviting her to his church camp in Miracle Valley, Arizona.

My mom decided to accept his invitation. So that next week, she headed for Arizona, my siblings and I in tow. We arrived on a Monday, besides the fact it was hot as hell, the place wasn't all that bad. Well the food was OK at least. There were Church services going on, almost the whole time we were there. But the fourth one that I attended: I saw something that I had seen before in the tent. The corpse which he was raising that day, was the same one from back in the spring. Me being a little kid and all, I first thought: boy, this guy must sure die a lot. But then as I started looking at the others that he was healing; I realized that they were the same ones from the tent service last spring. I pointed this out to my mom, but she didn't seem too concerned. She said he was just doing god's work.

From the eyes of a child all can be seen but for most as soon as they become adults they close those eyes. That is what I get from this article.
Fascinating...really enjoyed this.
You’re 100% correct in your analogy, Greencat3. After watching Jesus camp, and seeing how they were brainwashing the children in that documentary; I started think about my own experiences as a child, and what later led me to atheism (when people accept this type of nonsense, and all the guilt and fear that comes with it; they become too afraid to speak out against people who are just into religion, for the sole purpose of coning people out of their money, by doing these ridicules stunts).

I believe the main reasons, why the Christians in this country act so silly and ignorant are: when someone is exposed to religion at such a young age; it causes such great mental trauma in them, that they stop developing and growing mentally. This is much the same thing that happens in children who start using drugs at an early age. This is why most of them, can’t understand science as well. And this is why I believe, when confronted with the reality of just how silly most of the things are, in which they base their religion around; they can only respond with anger because they feel threatened by what’s real.

It’s the same thing that can be seen, in mentally retarded adults and mentally challenged children.
Thanks, Lorette.
They would really freak out at a Penn and Teller show.
LOL…..Penn and Teller show, I believe they would have ran out the door, thinking they were witnessing Satan reincarnated!

The thing I found most amazing about this was; nobody called him out on his fake raising the dead show. My Mon didn’t believe he had raised a corpus from death, however in hindsight, I think she just enjoyed the show.
Haha. It is so true that in the eyes of youth we see things more clearly yet we are also more willing to see things, we open our eyes wide and let curiosity take its course which is positive except in the case of indoctrination. This is a nice anecdote, thanks for the pleasure.

Well, I believe you have to put your faith in God, not in man, because man will always fail you, but God doesn't. Yes, God can even use fake evangelists to do his work. I do have a friend that was healed of blindness, from birth, as the age of 6 from a healing cloth from A.A. Allen. Her mother heard his ministry on the radio, sent for the cloth, placed it on Hope's eyes, and she was completely healed. It wasn't the cloth or A.A. Allen's doing, it was God. That cloth just provided the faith that Hope's mother needed.

There are many explanations for this story which come to mind. However: none of them require a “god.” I’ve heard all sorts of similar story, most were told by the mentally ill, or those who were just liars (preachers and pastors).

The only way I’d be convinced of what you’re saying is if; you had known “Hope” at the age of six, and you could produce some sort of legal document of blindness for this child – if “hope” was born anytime in the last 50 years; and “hope’s” parents’ were not complete idiots, they received SSI, or some other form of aid, and verifiable medical records should also be available.

See, none of these stories have ever been proven true; most were just lies. Did you know “Hope” when “Hope” was blind? I knew a guy who claimed he’d fallen out of a tree at age 12, and became paralyzed; then at age 17 he was “healed.” About 5 years latter I met his dad, I ask his dad about his story; his dad laughed and said “he’s still telling that silly story – he just has a big imagination.”

John
Well, John, no, I didn't know "Hope" at the age of 6, but from all of the miracles I've had in my own life, and no, I'm not a liar or mentally ill, I believe "Hope's" story to be true. I could tell you of all of the miracles that have happened to me, but, you already have your mind made up that there is no "God", and miracles don't exist. You wouldn't believe me. I just pray that nothing happens to you and you have to find out the hard way. I can't show you "God," but on the other hand, you can't prove to me that there is no "God." It just takes "faith," and that is something you apparently don't have. I'll be praying for you.
Wolf in sheep’s clothing comes to mind when I read this. Not everyone who claims to be a Christian actually follows Christ Jesus.

Here are two articles that give more information on this.

Identity Theft is more dangerous than you think!

And

So you “say” you are/were a Christian?
http://findingtruthtoday.typepad.com/finding-trut...
Well, I know there are a lot of people that profess to be Christians, but aren't, and that's between them and God.
All I can say is, " I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, (which I know there is), then to live my life as if there is no God, and die to find out there is." What harm is there to living a good moral life, and doing what's right? That's what a Christian is doing, living a good moral life. People that make fun of us, but we are the WINNERS here, not the people that live like the devil!!! I will pray for all of you, out there, because you need to see the light!!
Wow. I needn't write a long comment. This is simply criminal.

I agree, this is criminal; and what is just as criminal is the fact that these con artists and fucking thieves are never prosecuted – and this is why they can get on television claiming that a little packet of miracle spring water and “jesus,” will cure cancer – and if you were to call them out on this silly and deluded bullshit, they would simply start crying persecution.
